Ghana Music Awards UK 2019 open nominations from May 30th

Nominations for the 4th edition of the Ghana Music Awards UK will officially open tomorrow 30th May, 2019 for the award scheme that “Recognises the achievement of our musicians”

The organisers in a post stated that this year’s edition will be a battle between music giants as the nominations for the 4th edition of the awards begins from 30th May 2019 to 28th June 2019.

In a conversation with Alordiah, the Chief Executive Officer of the event house, he disclosed that unlike last year where they had an official press conference in Ghana and main launch in London , they have decided to have the main launch in Ghana this year rather.

“ We want every nominee and industry person to be part of the event so we have decided to have the official launch in Ghana, before the official launch, the jury would have finished their work and we would know the nominees for the various categories nominated and be able to engage the nominees better.

Musicians whose work fall within the calendar year from 1st April 2018 to 30th April 2019 would have to send their work to submissions@gmauk.co.uk or visit www.gmauk.co.uk/submission; from 30th May.

Morgan Heritage Kenyan Concert With Stonebwoy Flops

Reports reaching us via social media has it that Jamaican music group concert in Kenya has flopped with some artiste billed to perform on stage alongside not been treated well.

According to the reports, Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artist Stonebwoy got kicked out of his hotel room over non-payment of bills after the Kenya Concert dubbed “Tomorrow’s Leaders” organised by Morgan Heritage flopped.

But Nigerian artiste and ‘Jonny Hitmaker’ Yemi Alade was also locked up in her hotel room for non-payment as well.

More revelations were made about the show in a series of Twitter posts.

“Credible sources inform me that @morganheritage are planning to flee the country tomorrow after the flopped #TLF2019 gig.

– Stonebwoy has been kicked out of his hotel.
– Yemi Alade locked in her hotel because of bills.
– No Kenyan Artist paid.#ArrestMorganHeritage”

“The much publicized @morganheritage event that was meant to raise cash for “African Leaders” was a complete disaster from the start. Artists like @diamondplatnumz and @yemialadee refused to get on stage because of pay. #ArrestMorganHeritage”.

“The main host @KoinangeJeff also pulled out of the event hours before everything went south as he didn’t want to align his brand with an event that was Confused, Poorly organized and with No Pay. #ArrestMorganHeritage”.

“On the day of the event, all the artists refused to get on stage before payment, @morganheritage gave them cheques at the backstage. A few hours after the performance they got this mail, saying no money in the account. #ArrestMorganHeritage”.

Female Afro-fusion singer “Mish-J” thrills fans at Ghana Meets Naija 19

Over the years, Ghana Meets Naija has been known as the platform for the biggest artistes in both Ghana and Nigeria to share one stage and thrill music lovers. It has always seen massive patronage because of the list of top African acts it parades.

This years edition of the show which came off last Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre saw performances from some of the country’s mainstream acts who played undercard; one of which was Mish-j as she wowed the crowd with some of her hit tracks – “Colours” and a freestyle of “Hearts Won’t lie”.

Mish-j put up a stunning performance alongside Ghanaian artistes such as; Patapaa, Medikal, R2bees, Kelvin Bwoy, Tulenkey, J. Derobie, AK Songstress, Ras Kuuku, Opanka, Fameye, Narna, Kofi Mole and several others.

And also, artistes who represented Nigeria includes; the ‘For your Case’ hitmaker Teni, Wande Coal, Victor AD, Saltan, Moziz and other acts.

Mish-J is an Afro-fusion singer/songwriter with her honey voice that soothes her powerful lyrics
that heals the heart.
