Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has officially closed the chapter on his celebrated Iron Boy era and ushered in a new phase of his career with the release of his latest single, “Popstar.” The track dropped on Friday, March 27, 2026, marking his first major release of the year.
The release comes with the artist’s own declaration: “Welcome to the Sunrise,” a phrase Black Sherif is using to introduce what he calls a fresh chapter in his journey . In an interview with OkayAfrica, the “Kwaku the Traveller” hitmaker explained that “Popstar” reflects a persona he envisioned for himself before moving to Accra, describing the project as a “personal reset” and a form of “reclaiming” his identity as an entertainer.
The new single arrives following the massive success of his sophomore album, ‘Iron Boy,’which was released in April 2025 . The 15-track project showcased his signature fusion of Afrobeats, hip-hop, and highlife, achieving strong international chart performance and elevating his global profile . It reached number one on iTunes in Nigeria and recorded notable chart placements in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
