I Brought Spices To University Of Ghana As A Student – Guru

Guru, the acclaimed artist, recently shared his profound appreciation for fulfilling a long-held aspiration by attending the University of Ghana. Speaking in an interview with Joy Prime, Guru revealed his active involvement as a student, collaborating with the Student Representative Council and his residential hall to organize significant campus events.

“The University of Ghana has always been my dream, and being there feels like the realization of a lifelong ambition. I was fully committed to contributing in any way I could,” he expressed.

Guru recounted his enthusiastic engagement during his first year, where he supported and sponsored various Hall Week celebrations and collaborated with the SRC to organize events, including Evandy Hall Week. He recalled successfully bringing in artists like Mister Drew, contributing to the events’ success.

Highlighting his mother’s strong desire for him to pursue higher education, Guru shared that during the COVID-19 lockdown, he decided to enroll at the university out of a sense of purpose. Initially pursuing a degree in Information Studies, he later switched to Political Science, driven by his aspiration to work with the United Nations.

“During the COVID lockdown, I felt a sense of restlessness, so I decided to dive into academics. My mother’s passion for education influenced me greatly, and I enrolled at the University of Ghana. Initially studying Information Technology, I later switched to Political Science and Information Studies. Ultimately, my goal is to put my education into practice by working with the UN,” he elaborated.
