Listen: Oriiginelle drops ‘Sunday’

Eswatini born artist and producer Oriiginelle, whose real name is Makhosazana Thwala, has recently released her most sensual piece yet – titled Sunday.

The song is a scenic trip of melodies and ‘trippy’ percussions laced in suave lyrics and ambience that is bound to get you in your ‘feels’. The mix of vocals in symbiosis with the beat further attests to Oriiginelle’s evolution from ‘rapper’ to artist, which she has beautifully captured on Sunday.

The contents of the song express Oriiginelle’s need for an intimate relationship, however this she cannot achieve due to weekly commitments which compromise the nature of said relationship. Besides the weekends, this would mean rearranging her schedule to allow for her to indulge in romance and intimacy.

Oriiginelle proceeds to mention how she copes with such conditions by having cornered herself into casual relationships, eliminating the commitment of having to make time for someone. “I gotta drop her at her place and shake it all off to start the week on a clean slate…”

The backup vocals (and/or adlibs) escalate the sensation of the song by adding a soothing overlay to the main vocals which are already a trend throughout the entire piece. This is the ideal song to add to your weekend therapy playlist as you quiet down to enjoy your “free me” days.

The song is a brew of toxicity and unaccountability. Which are typical features of most relationships nowadays. And this exposes how Oriiginelle is no different from anybody else.

Her battle with finding love and security in someone can be likened to anyone else’s. Just as the many people who have failed to find her being secure, which is something she’s not accounting for regardless of the sabotage.

The song was produced by Bophelo ‘SoduhBeats’ Letsika, and mixed and mastered by LOSOUNDZ. Oriiginelle also collaborated with photographer Ayanda ‘Ayo Captured’ Mkhabela who took amazing pictures for their rollout and artwork. This was well complemented by Sigcino Mwelase’s keen eye for detail through creative direction.
